Damien Dempsey

DD
December 9 @ 7:00 pm
After two triumphant sold out shows at Iveagh Gardens in July, Damien Dempsey announces his longest run of 6 shows at Vicar Street for Christmas 2023. Both Iveagh and Vicar Street have become a thing of legend for Damien and his devoted gig going tribe. The December Tour will kick off in Limerick and end on New Years Eve in Killarney. 2023 has also seen the first new music from Damien since 2018’s sublime Union album.

Glen Hansard – Live In Concert

December 15 @ 8:00 pm

The Mary Wallopers

mw
December 20 @ 7:00 pm
“They’re revitalising Irish trad for a new generation with rowdy reinterpretations of hand-me-down odes to sex, devilry and drink (mainly drink). Like the Dubliners, the Pogues and Jinx Lennon before them, they elevate the displaced and the downtrodden, sticking two fingers up to the establishment and, in doing so, yanking a thread that unites all rebel music from folk to punk and rap” The Guardian Irish Rock ’n’ Roll is due for release on October 6th and follows last year’s hugely acclaimed self-titled debut (“these youngsters are all about presenting vibrancy, saltiness and edge via roots music from a bygone age, at a moment when such qualities are all but absent form contemporary pop” Mojo).

Bell X1

December 21 @ 7:00 pm
After a summer run including sold-out shows in the Marquee, Cork; King John’s Castle, Limerick; Dublin’s Iveagh Gardens, Galway Arts Festival, and a special performance at Áras an Uachtarain for President Michael D Higgins and invited guests, Bell X1 are readying themselves to get back indoors this winter. The band recently released a new single & video “The Lobster” - the third single from their 8th studio album, Merciful Hour, which came out in May. The ten-track album was recorded in Dublin with producer John ‘Spud’ Murphy, and features the band collaborating with Dowry Strings.

Lankum

lankum
December 22 @ 7:00 pm
Their new album, False Lankum follows their 2019 breakthrough album The Livelong Day, which paved the way for critical and commercial success, earning them that year’s RTE Choice Music Prize (the Irish equivalent of the Album of the Year Grammy) and the #8 spot on NPR Music’s Best Albums of the Year list. Drawing on traditional folk songs, Lankum put their own dark, distinctive mark onto each, leaning into heavy drones and sonic distortion that imparts new intensity and beauty into each track. This record sees the band cement their breakout from the folk genre, creating bold, contemporary music that may be fashioned from traditional elements but is firmly new, sitting comfortably alongside Rough Trade labelmates like black midi and Gilla Band. False Lankum also features two original tracks, ‘Netta Perseus’ and ‘The Turn’, both penned by the group’s Daragh Lynch.
